On April 7th, China University of Petroleum (Beijing) and Khalifa University held a signing ceremony for a new academic cooperation agreement, alongside the unveiling of the CUP-KU Joint Laboratory for Petroleum Innovation and Sustainability in Beijing. Jin Yan, President of China University of Petroleum (Beijing), and H.E. Ebrahim Al-Hajri, President of Khalifa University, attended the event. H.E. Khaled Alshehhi, Acting Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to China, was also present to witness the signing and unveiling.

In his remarks, President Jin Yan reviewed the remarkable achievements the two universities have made in joint talent cultivation and scientific research since the establishment of their partnership in 2009. He noted that the ceremony marks a new starting point in their cooperation and expressed hope that both institutions would seize this opportunity to deepen collaboration in frontier technologies and jointly cultivate high-level international talent, contributing to innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.

President Ebrahim Al-Hajri shared his optimistic outlook on the partnership, emphasizing that as a world-class university supported by the UAE government, Khalifa University has made continuous progress in advancing cutting-edge research and innovative education in the energy field. He highlighted the strong complementarity between the two institutions and expressed confidence that the partnership will yield significant achievements across multiple domains.

Following the ceremony, representatives from both universities engaged in in-depth discussions on expanding scientific research collaboration, student exchange programs, and faculty visits. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to leveraging their respective strengths to elevate the partnership and jointly contribute to the development of China-Arab energy education cooperation.
